Unusually dry conditions in the summer of 2018 allowed drone photography in many areas of Ireland to reveal archaeological features previously unknown. In addition to providing a unique VR view that reveals the entirety of the Giant’s Ring, my drone image seen here delineates a thin ring of green grass inside the outer embankment, perhaps indicating a subterranean structural feature. In addition, the drone’s close-up view from the center of the ring enabled a comparison with the conventional VR from the much wetter summer of 2000.
