Dunbeg Fort

Co. Kerry, Ireland
This Iron Age promontory fort withstood many centuries of winter gales intact. But the furious coastal storms of 2014 and 2018 have now sealed its fate, as its western end has fallen into the sea. I was fortunate to have created a detailed VR environment of the intact fort in 2013. In the summer of 2018 there was no access to the fort whatsoever, as the government had erected fencing and signage declaring the site closed for safety reasons. Flying the drone from outside the fencing, I maneuvered it over the edge of the cliff in order to capture the same viewpoint of the now-collapsed fort entrance I had photographed in 2013.
